Maritime Education Program Update |

The Maritime Education Program of the Institute did well to qualify in the CHED-International Maritime Organization (IMO) "white-listers" roll, and earned more noteworthy reviews in the annual surveillance evaluation of Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an international quality assurance certifying body for maritime education quality standards system (QSS) based in Norway. During the last annual audit of the maritime education program of PIT, the Institute's Maritime Education Program received five (5) Noteworthy Efforts, namely: (1) internal quality audit was well conducted and comprehensively done, (2) course syllabi were updated and enriched according to DNV Guidelines for delivery of courses in Maritime Education and Training Institutions, (3) active commitment of senior management, academic support and maritime academic groups in the quality management system, (4) well established quality objectives, and (5)delivery of courses based on DNV standards was well done. There were three (3) Opportunities for Improvement, one (1) observation, and no non-conformity. Mr. Alexander Jose T. Javier, lead auditor of the DNV audit team, visited the Institute for the annual audit of its maritime education program on December 5-6, 2007.
